Please be aware that YES we are continuing to run our much loved Scones and Tea stall at the Hill and Ridge Community Market, Red Hill Reserve on the first Saturday of each month from September- May.
We are extremely fortunate at 1st Red Hill that our Scones and Billy Tea stall provides the bulk of our fundraising, which this contributes towards maintenance costs of the hall, grounds, equipment and helps to keep our annual fees to a minimum.
It is a necessary requirement that every family must participate in the Scones and Billy Tea stall at the market. Each year a roster is drawn up for the market season (September to May) and each family has to participate in minimum four (4) “market duties” per season.
These duties are staggered throughout the mornings of the Red Hill market.
These duties are compulsory for every member’s family.
We expect the youth member to be in uniform and bring along a parent (or another adult) to assist in every aspect of the stall. You can make scones, man the ovens or fire pit, work on the cream and jam or oversee the till.
This may seem like a lot of effort but there is something there for everyone and “many hands make light work”.
As the group can not survive without the market income we have had to implement the following penalties.
NEW PENALTIES will now apply from September 2022 for not fulfilling your shift.
Minimum 4 shifts for one child and minimum 6 shifts families with 2 or more children.
For non-attendance without valid excuse:
A two night / day suspension from all activities for the first offence.
Suspension for a term for all activities on second offence.
If a third time occurs membership will be terminated (at the discretion of the Committee), as this was part of our joining agreement at Red Hill Scouts and there is a large wait list in place.
This is the direct result of families not fulfilling their shifts and extra pressure then placed on the families who have turned up to do their shift.
